The unsanctioned event at Tidewater Fencing Club this past weekend was a great first tournament for several of our fencers! In saber; Michelle took 2nd, Emily 3rd, Leo 5th, and Sharon 6th! In epee; Dean took 6th and Abby took 7th! In Y14 foil Zach took 3rd! Great job everyone!

Sorry I am running late on December, Shane and I were in Germany, Dave had to stay behind. We are back now and ready to get back on schedule!

    I'm a little late on posting the results from last weekend's W&M Halloween Open Tournament, I apologize. Our fencers all did a great job and a couple earned ratings!
    In epee, Robert finished 2nd, Bryce finished 10th and earned his E15, congratulations! Our W&M fencer, Eric, finished 17th.
    In foil, Scott finished 8th, Zach finished 21st
    In Saber, Ji(Miracle)Qi finished 3rd and renewed her D, Robert finished 8th and earned his E15, congratulations!, Michelle finished 9th. Our W&M fencer, Gabriella, finished 11th.

Exciting weekend at the 2015 Virginia Kick Off DIV 1A ROC in Fredericksburg this weekend! Scott finished 23rd in Senior Men's Foil and 5th in Senior Men's Epee renewing his A! Ed finished 52nd in Senior Men's Epee and Michelle took 8th in Senior Women's Saber earning her E15! Great job everyone!

Congratulations to Rhiannon on a great showing at Summer Nationals. She finished 26th in Juniors, earning more national points and finished 5th in Div1A, earning her A15. Awesome job!

Summer has begun, The Boys & Girls Club is now on its summer schedule which means the gate should be closed when we arrive, this has no effect on us. We will still be open regular hours, just park in the lot as usual and walk up the sidewalk.

Congratulations to our fencers this weekend, Chris in his first tournament took 10th in the D&under foil and 11th in senior foil! Good job! Michelle took 5th in saber, Rhiannon 3rd in senior foil and Scott took 5th in epee and 2nd in senior foil. Once again Scott and Rhiannon had to face each other in DE's Nice work everyone!

Hi all, remember that tonight is Alex's last night with us. For those who would like to join us for a late dinner after club tonight to celebrate with Alex, we will be going to The Cove (in City Center in Newport News). We will head over as soon as we are done for the night, so between 8:30 and 9:00 depending on general consensus.

Hope everyone has been having a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend, remember that we will be CLOSED tonight, Monday May 25th. But we will see you again this Thursday, May 28th, for Alex's last night with us!

Coach Alex will be leaving us soon to move to  Bellevue, Washington. We will miss him, they don't know how lucky they are! His last night with us will be Thursday, May 28th, so Geoff will be taking a club picture this Thursday, May 21st so Alex will have something to remember everyone! We would like to get the picture in first thing so everyone is nice and fresh :)  If you can make it please do, it will mean a lot to Coach Alex and to us!

Some exciting news for one of our younger members, Zach Johnson, he will be appearing as an extra on an episode of AMC's  Turn: Washington's Spies. The episode he is in should be the one airing next Monday, May 4th at 10pm on AMC (Channel 55, I believe) He is the drummer. We are excited for him, way to go Zach!

If you can make it by Club on April 6th, a little birdie just told me you might see a familiar face we haven't seen since 2013! Yep, Coach Vicki should be making an appearance at HRFC on Monday, April 6th, We are excited to see her again! Safe travels Coach Vicki!

People have been inquiring about Spring Break week, so I thought I would let everyone know, we WILL be open on Monday, April 6th and Thursday, April 9th. The gate will be closed when we arrive just like it is in the summer, so don't be confused by that, just walk down the sidewalk as usual.

Congratulations to our fencers for a good showing this weekend at the Conomikes-Gutenberg Memorial Open!  In epee, Scott took 2nd, Bryce 15th, Dean 24th, and Geoff 25th. In foil  Scott grabbed 3rd and renewed his C and Rhiannon took home 8th. Rhiannon and Scott faced each other in DE's, that must have been a fun match! Nice to see Dean back out there! As you may have guessed already, we will have to cancel Club tonight, Thursday, Feb 26th. See you on Monday, weather-permitting! If you have to go out on the roads, be careful!

We have just learned that York County Schools will be closed tomorrow due to the weather, therefore we will have to cancel club as well for tomorrow, Thursday, Feb 19th.  Hopefully this will be the last cancellation for weather this season!
Also, the club jackets are in, so we will have them at the next club session. If you ordered one but haven't paid yet, you can pay on the website, or when you pick it up. They are $55.

We were informed last night that we have to be closed this Monday, Feb 16th. So we will see everyone again on Thursday, Feb 19th. Have a great weekend!

The club jackets have been ordered. The original jacket was discontinued, but we got an upgrade for the same price. The feedback from those who have seen this is that they prefer this one anyway, so it worked out well for us! The jacket is darker in color, so we had to tweak the logo colors (all black detailing is now silver) and the names will be in silver. They should be ready within two weeks.

There are no scheduled closings this month, but Feb can be a rough one on us with weather related closings, so remember to keep an eye on the website or Facebook page for closing announcements (If the York County schools close for weather, we have to close).

We are in need of some new mats, if anyone can get hold of the old style carpet samples, we would greatly appreciate it!  Our current ones are wearing out and we are having difficulty finding any.  As you can see in the picture, we place them by the strips for the fencers to wipe their shoes to help keep them from slipping on the gym floor.  Thank you!

We have two fencers fencing for the first time in the Winter Regional Youth Circuit in Richmond this weekend! We are so excited for Zach and Leo! Zach will be fencing in the Y14 foil event with Coach Ed there to support him as strip coach, and Leo will be fencing the Y10 saber event with Coach Miracle supporting him as strip coach! We wish both of these great guys a wonderful first tournament experience, we're all rooting for you!

There has been interest expressed for a while now in the Club having warm-up jackets. In order to keep the price down, we need at least 12 people to order. 1-11 will run $70, but if we can get 12-23 people the cost will be $55. The jackets will be light blue with the club logo on the left chest and your name on the right. Sizing runs as follows: S 34-35", M 38-40", L 42-44", XL 46-48", 2XL 50-52", 3XL 54-56"  (the 2XL and 3XL add $5)  Let me know if you are interested. I would like to place the order Feb 2nd, so please get with me before then.
